Recently, Misty and Pastor Bonnie were having a conversation about how to have a conversation with people you disagree with that is respectful and still conveys your beliefs. Out of that conversation came the idea for “Moving Forward: Learning to Communicate With the Other Side,” a workshop for the community to come together and learn best practices.

All are invited to attend and to bring others with you to the workshops and conversations.

The purpose statement is as follows:
  • “Moving Forward: Learning to Communicate With the Other Side,” is an attempt of a group of people to come together to bridge what divides us.
  • We will try, with an open heart and an open mind, to listen and grow in understanding through faith and forgiveness.
  • We are not allied with any political group. We do not seek to create agendas. We are interested only in breaking down barriers that keep our humanity apart.
  • We depend on humility, and our own humanity to guide us.
  • We rest in the presence of the great mystery in each of our lives, to overcome hatred, and live in peace.

Resources From the Workshops

Below are resources we use at the workshops that you are welcome to use with your family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors as you seek to communicate more effectively.

We also found this article and this article to be helpful in framing the conversation (links will redirect to outside websites. We are not responsible for any content on outside websites, or for their continued availability).
